We would like to congratulate all participants who qualified for the Ford Ironman World Championships in Hawaii and the Foster Grant Ironman 70.3 Championships in Clearwater, Florida. Since all slot winners must be present at the awards ceremony, there is always a slight variation in the slots originally allocated to each age group and the slots actually awarded. WTC provides each race with rules and a formula as to how to "roll down" the unclaimed slots to the next deserving age group.
The slots were distributed according to the timeline that was inserted into everyones race envelope and posted on the results board at the finish line. There were a few "roll downs" within each age group. A roll down is if someone in an age group chooses not to take their slot, it will roll down to the next participant in that age group.
There were also a few slots that were reallocated to different age groups within the same gender. The order of this reallocation was posted on the results board at the finish line along with the timeline of when it would occur (after 3:30pm). A reallocation occurs if no one in an age group wants the allocated slot, it will be given to the next deserving age group (in the same gender) according to a formula provided to the race by WTC.
The instructions and timelines were posted on the website prior to the race, emailed out to all participants, inserted into each participants race packet, and posted on the results board at the finish line.
