Since her disease, she has been determined to do things and not put them off. She has completed the Boston Marathon, the Eagleman 70.3 several times and the Ford Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon – twice. GO BETHANN!

So that they have an active mommy who they can look up to. When I run, I often think of the family health history I am running away from. A cycle that I do not want to repeat... The Iron Girl is the perfect symbol to add to my running journey. As I run on Sunday, I will hear my little girls voices saying "Go, Mommy Go!" and that will keep me moving toward the finish line."

Competing today is April Orr whi is a mlitary wife and a mother of 3 daughters; She trains to teach her children that no matter where life takes you, or the struggles you face you can always decide to put one foot in front of the other and push on. She believes running teaches a great life lesson that no matter where the wall is you can push through it if you choose to.

Apr 29, 2012 7:39 amCongratulations today to Yvonne Carteer, who pursued a career as a cardiothoracic surgeon after her mother sufferd a heart attack at age 37 when he was in the third grade. She has been running for years, as a way to stay fit and as a part of heart attack prevention. She has run in both the NYC and Boston Marathon. Go Yvonne!

At the start line now doing a group cheer. Wendy, store manager, is welcoming all athletes and spectators and invites them to the store opening on June 17th.

Many women are racing in memory of or tribute to loved ones. Others are racing for a charitable cause or to be a better role model for their children.
